POSITION SUMMARYThe Child Care Assistant Director will work closely with the Child Care Director to ensure the smooth daily operations of the center. This role focuses on maintaining compliance with licensing regulations, fostering a safe and enriching environment for children and families, coordinating fundraising and engagement events, and managing resources. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills, along with a passion for early childhood education and a commitment to upholding the mission, purpose, and core values of the Alexandria Area YMCA.
ESSENTIALFUNCTIONS
- Collaborate with the Child Care Director to oversee the day-to-day operations of the child care center, ensuring adherence to established policies and procedures.
- Ensure full compliance with licensing regulations and safety protocols, aligning operations with applicable laws and guidelines.
- Serve as a liaison between parents and program staff, proactively addressing concerns and fostering a safe, fun, and high-quality environment across all facets of the center.
- Maintain licensing records, conducting timely month-end reporting for all child care sites, and ensure employees fulfill annual training requirements.
- Conduct training sessions for new employees, covering licensing procedures on ongoing training obligations.
- Collaborate with the child care enrollment coordinator to evaluate new enrollments and transitions, optimizing classroom occupancy in alignment with budgetary objectives.
- Spearhead the planning and execution of fundraising endeavors, family engagement initiatives, and special events to foster community involvement and support.
- Coordinate with vendors to procure materials, supplies, and equipment for the center, maintaining fiscal responsibility within allocated budgets.
- Contribute to staff evaluations and performance monitoring efforts.
- Develop and distribute monthly child care family newsletter that enhances communication and engagement with parents and guardians.
- Participate in Y Operations Team meetings and support strategic objectives.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor's Degree in Child Development, Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, or a related Human Services field is preferred. Associate's Degree in Early Childhood Education or Child Development Credential is required.
- Minimum of three years’ experience creating, implementing and managing high quality child care programming preferred.
- A genuine interest in working with and enriching the lives of children.
- A self-motivated, hands-on team leader with strong communications, networking and collaboration skills.
- A high level of attention to detail and quality of service and facilities. Demonstrated commitment to high standards of customer service.
- Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills with the ability to manage several projects at once and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Polished, professional demeanor with excellent written and spoken communication skills.
- Applicant must be able to successfully pass Minnesota Department of Human Services Netstudy
2.0 criminal background check. - 21 years of age.
- Valid driver’s license.
$22.20 - $26.64 per hour
