  • $14.00 - $15.50 per hour
  • +$4/hour weekend shift differential

Job Summary

As a Lifeguard at the YMCA, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety and enjoyment of our members and guests. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing supervision of the pool area.
  • Delivering a high-quality experience for children and parents.
  • Enforcing pool rules in a polite, courteous, fair, and consistent manner.
  • Upholding the YMCA's core values and commitment to safety.
  • Adhering to all YMCA policies, rules, regulations, and procedures, including emergency and safety protocols.

Requirements

  • Red Cross or YMCA Lifeguard Certification (required).
  • Passion for water safety and customer service.
  • Ability to enforce rules with courtesy and consistency.
  • Strong commitment to safety.

Physical Demands

  • Ability to walk, stand, and sit for long periods of time while maintaining alertness for several hours at a time.
  • Visual and auditory ability to respond to critical situations and physical ability to act swiftly in an emergency; must be able to lift equipment weighing up to 20 pounds or remove a victim from the water in the event of an emergency.
  • Ability to speak concisely and effectively communicate.
  • Exposure to communicable diseases and bodily fluids.
  • Position may require bending, leaning, kneeling, and walking.
