At our site in Alexandria, Minnesota, we design, manufacture, test and provide service support of LGC, Biosearch Technologies laboratory instrumentation and consumables. Products produced and distributed from this location enable scientists to make the world a safer place and enables customers in areas such as developing and identifying new plant hybrids, testing and tracking of food products for food safety, and research to support human diagnostic testing.
The Alexandria site represents a centre of excellence for Biosearch Technologies in the areas of Engineering, Manufacturing, and Field Service by supplying and supporting customers and team members around the world. Our services are accredited to the ISO 9001 quality standard.
The Facilities Technician will provide direct, hands-on support for facilities maintenance and improvement efforts across the Alexandria site along with supporting the EHS (Safety) activities of the site. This position will work with the Facilities Coordinator and will support a variety of projects and teams across the organization.
In addition, this position will support a variety of Safety and Health related activities as part of its daily responsibilities – performing inspections, completing documentation, and supporting the Safety and Health needs of the Alexandria site.
Areas of responsibility:
- Facilities maintenance and improvement using a variety of tools
- Movement of materials using non-motorized and motorized equipment
- Utilization of forklifts and aerial lift
- Facilities inspection and documentation duties
- Facilities and common area part/supply management
- Pest control activities inside and outside of the building
- Safety inspection and documentation duties
- Chemical and biological waste documentation
- Participation in the site Safety Committee
- Safety systems maintenance and support
- Other duties as assigned
Approximate breakdown of duties will include:
- Facilities-related activities: 80%
- EHS-related activities: 20%

Essential Knowledge & Qualifications:
- 2 year technical degree in carpentry, maintenance or a similar area of study and/or equivalent experience
- 2-5 years of facilities maintenance experience
