About the role

We are looking for a skilled drone regulations expert to join our Flight Operations team.
We hope to find a candidate who is excited to both work with regulations and be in charge of compliance, while also joining the flight crew as a Drone Operator (that's what our remote drone pilots are called) on some days.

As Regulatory & Compliance Officer you will bring valuable expertise on risk analysis and your talent for analytical thinking; you will grow into understanding the drone ecosystem and help Avy to enable life-saving drone flights throughout Europe and Africa.
You will be involved in daily and strategic tasks, among which:

• Define, design and arrange approval for new types of operations with the SORA methodology
• Support with, check & approve flight plans
• Act as point of contact between Avy and the aviation authorities (such as ILT, EASA,...)
• Conduct advisory projects for Avy and Avy’s customers
• Understand and work with our LUC
• Stay aware of any updates released by EASA that are related to Avy and ensure Avy’s operations are compliant with these
• Compare and work with different drone regulations around the world

As Flight Operator, you will be an active part of testing and operating our aircraft. You will receive training on how to operate our SAIL II fixed-wing system, which is currently in use by first response operators throughout the Netherlands. Your primary responsibility will be conducting VLOS test flights, as well as gaining experience with complex BVLOS operations.

• Plan and execute test flights to support the development of our system
• Plan and execute operational flights for our clients
• Plan and execute flight demonstrations (domestic and international)
• Documentation and logging of flight tasks (logbook, testimonies, ...)
• Actively follow Avy’s Safety Management System (SMS)

At Avy’s Flight Operations team, our mission is the overall planning, directing, managing, and implementing of groundbreaking VTOL drone operations. Our main directive is to ensure we deliver our customers with a well-tested and smoothly operating VTOL system.
We strive to conduct all our flights at the highest level of safety, guarantee operations that comply with all applicable regulations and enable our customers to uphold the same standards.

About You

• You have an all round knowledge of the activities and processes in drones and/or aviation
• You know how to make a SORA, read a VFR chart, and write a flight plan
• You are aware of the work conducted by EASA & ICAO and always up to date with the latest releases

• You are flexible with your work times and location and don’t mind being outside in the Dutch weather
• You are a team player with a can do attitude
• You enjoy office banter in between hard work

Requirements

• At least 2 years of experience in the UAS or regulatory/compliance sector
• A university degree in Social Sciences, Law, History, Business Administration, Aerospace Engineering, or a safety related education
• Strong English proficiency, written and spoken - Dutch and any other language is a plus
• A valid driver's licence (Class

• EU citizenship or a EU work permit
• Having the following certificates would be a big bonus:
• EASA A1/A3 and EASA A2 licence
• Certified SORA course
• ISO 9001
• Medical certificate for pilots (class LAPL)
