About UsThe Minnesota Freedom Fund is committed to ending the harmful and discriminatory practice of pretrial detention. We pay criminal bail and immigration bonds for people who can’t afford them, so they can stay with their families, keep their jobs, and continue living their lives while their cases are resolved. We’re currently focused on helping people in Hennepin, Ramsey, Dakota, Anoka, and Washington Counties, and expanding our reach as we grow.
WhatYou’ll Be Doing
As a Communications Associate, you’ll be at the heart of telling the Minnesota Freedom Fund’s story. You’ll work closely with our Director of Communications and the rest of our team to create powerful, engaging content that resonates with our supporters and the communities we serve.
- Content Creation:You’ll create compelling social media posts, design graphics, shoot and edit videos, and write persuasive content to keep our audience informed and engaged.
- Content Strategy:Help us fine-tune our social media strategy using data from platforms like Meltwater and Google Analytics to make sure we’re reaching the right people with the right message.
- Content Planning:Maintain our editorial calendar and make sure we’re always prepared with timely content for key events and campaigns.
- Audience Engagement:You’ll be the face of MFF on social media, responding to supporters, answering questions, and making sure we’re maintaining a respectful and inclusive online presence.
- Astrong writerwho can create clear and engaging content.
- Experience insocial media managementand growing engaged digital audiences.
- Skills ingraphic design(Canva, Adobe Suite) andvideo editing(Premiere, Rush, etc.).
- Experience using content management systems likeEvery Action.
- Ateam playerwho can work well with others but also thrives in independent tasks.
- Detail-orientedand organized – you’ll be juggling a lot of tasks, so being able to prioritize is key!
- Fluency in a language other than English.
- Lived experience with the criminal legal and/or immigration systems.
- Experience working innonprofits,government,marketing, orjournalism.
- Familiarity with thecriminal justiceorimmigration systemsand a passion for social justice work.
