The volleyball instructors will help to lead our youth volleyball camps. Volleyball instructors should have a basic working knowledge of the fundamental skills of volleyball and are extremely confident and skilled at translating and delivering those skills to a young audience (ages 8-13). Successful instructors will have the ability to engage and gain trust with young children, and progressively help participants develop confidence and enthusiasm for the sport of volleyball.
Responsibilities:- Instructs beginner youth volleyball players.
- Demonstrates volleyball skills and techniques.
- Supervises participants and maintains a safe learning environment.
- Shall wear Parks and Recreation staff uniform per the City of Appleton dress code.
- Signs own name on the results/pay sheet for hours worked.
- Works closely with the Parks & Recreation Department staff and volunteers to ensure all department rules and policies are observed.
- CPR/First Aid Certification.
- Strong volleyball background, teaching experience preferred.
- Knowledge of the principles and skills of the game of volleyball.
- Ability to effectively carry out oral and written instructions.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with fellow staff members and the public in a courteous and tactful manner.
- Valid driver's license.
- Ability to effectively supervise and maintain control of participants.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Adhere to City of Appleton and Departmental policies and procedures.
Education Level
Required:
Completed 2 years of High School or 2 years of experience.
Typical work schedule for a Volleyball Instructor is Mondays 6:00 p.m.
- 9:00 p.m. from March 11-April 15 (No camp March 25 or April
1).
Location of work:
Einstein Middle School.
The volleyball instructor will lead instructional classes for youth in grades 3rd through 6th grade. Candidates should have a strong knowledge of the fundamentals of volleyball, be able to develop daily lesson plans, and be able to communicate confidently and in an encouraging manner.
