Looking for part-time workers for after-school childcare.

TITLE: Seasonal Assistant Youth Development Professional

POSITION TYPE: Part-time (20-25 hours per week)

PERFORMANCE PROFILE SOURCE: Youth Development Professional

DEPARTMENT: Programs

REPORTS TO: Unit Director

FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt

AVAILABILITY:
School Year -
Mon-Fri 1:30PM - 6:30PM | Summer - Mon-Fri 7:00AM - 5:30PM


Job Requirements

  • Must be 16 years of age or older
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • CPR / First-Aid Training

● Strong knowledge of youth development

● Ability to motivate youth and implement positive behavior intervention

● Ability to communicate effectively with parents, vendors & community

● Ability to review lessons, plan and implement quality programs for youth

● Ability to organize and supervise members in a safe environment

● Ability to perform activities with children


Specific Job Responsibilities

Program Planning:

The Seasonal AYDPC will, with the guidance of the lead coordinator, organize and facilitate youth programs and activities that are either nationally run or of an original nature. Programs have educational gain and are consistent with the Boys & Girls Club’s Youth Development Strategy. A range of programs will be available to appeal to all ages, genders, and cultural backgrounds.

Safe, Positive Climate:

The Seasonal AYDPC must ensure a safe and positive climate for all members at all times. This includes programs the Seasonal AYDPC is running as well as the surrounding visible areas and any other area within the Seasonal AYDPC’s range of senses. The Seasonal AYDPC should ensure that all equipment is in good working condition and that it is being used in its intended manner.

Program Implementation:

The Seasonal AYDPC is personally involved in Club programming and demonstrates high levels of enthusiasm towards Club members and visitors while encouraging participation. The Seasonal AYDPC should constantly praise members for good efforts and provide constructive feedback to ensure member’s get the most out of every experience.

Guidance:

The Seasonal AYDPC provides guidance to all club members. The Seasonal AYDPC must be able to recognize “trouble” situations and have the ability to diffuse the situation. The Seasonal AYDPC should be able to construct one on one sessions with members for problem solving and conflict resolution. The Seasonal AYDPC should always be conscious to develop positive values and ethical behaviors within the members.

The Seasonal AYDPC should strive to model these values and behaviors not only while working at the Club but outside the Club as well.

Administration:

Administration:

● The Seasonal AYDPC will be consistent with the Club’s system of record keeping i.e. turning in
timesheets, attendance, and membership forms.

● The Seasonal AYDPC will ensure that his/her program areas have the proper supplies on hand.

● The Seasonal AYDPC will assist the LYDPC in all areas of programming on a daily basis with the
guidance of the LYDPC.

● The Seasonal AYDPC will report daily to the Unit Director and Program Director

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Ability to sit and stand for long periods of time
  • Must be able to lift 25 pounds regularly, and up to 50 pounds periodically
  • Ability to work in environments with a wide array of noise and activity levels
