Under immediate supervision, is responsible for work of routine difficulty in operating a tractor mower, power mower, power saw and truck, and the cleaning of restrooms and other park, cemetery, recreation and grounds facilities; performs related work as required.

EXAMPLES OF WORK PERFORMED:

Cuts grass using hand mower, power driven lawnmower, tractor with mowing attachment, sickle, and/or scythe;

Plants, trims and weeds flowers, bushes, grass, and trees;

Picks up and dumps refuse and other litter;

Repairs and paints benches, tables, guardrails and other structures;

Maintains athletic fields;

Assists in the repair of roads, walks, buildings, and mechanical equipment;

Performs housekeeping tasks; sweeping, waxing, buffing, dusting, etc.;

Replenishing materials and supplies; loads and unloads trucks;

Performs other and related duties as assigned.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES: Demonstrated ability to perform assigned tasks; above average dexterity in using hands and fingers; eye-hand-foot coordination, form perception; the ability and willingness to follow instructions are the most significant requirement.

Most work is done outside in all kinds of weather and the employee will be exposed to noise, dust & dirt. This job requires standing, bending, walking, crawling and moderately heavy lifting.

EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION REQUIRED: Completion of the eighth grade or equivalent and some experience in the operation of mowing equipment and grounds and gardening work.
