This role has the option of being remote in the states of CA, NJ, SC, OR, and CO. The role requires 40% travel. We have offices in Playa Vista, CA and Bridgewater, NJ.About Us

The Role
The Commissioning and Construction Engineer is a position within Avnos‘ Technology and Projects organization, responsible for overseeing the successful deployment of our Direct Air Capture (DAC) projects across our operating locations in Los Angeles and Bakersfield, California;
Bridgewater, New Jersey; and Decatur, Illinois.

This role is instrumental in managing the entire project lifecycle, from commissioning planning and construction support through to system startup. We‘re seeking a proactive, results-driven professional who takes initiative and thrives on challenges. The ideal candidate will leverage their technical expertise and hands-on experience to ensure smooth transitions from construction to operational readiness, while demonstrating strong problem-solving capabilities and a bias for action throughout the process.

You Will
Develop comprehensive commissioning and construction planning documents, adhering to industrial construction work breakdown structure standards.
Coordinate pre-commissioning activities including equipment validation and system testing to ensure mechanical completion and startup readiness across all components (underground, structural piping, equipment, controls, and electrical), culminating in successful transfer of care, custody, and control (TCCC).
Drive resolution of technical issues during construction and commissioning phases through effective troubleshooting and coordination.
Collaborate closely with engineering, operations, and project management teams to maintain project alignment and ensure successful delivery.

You Have
A bachelor‘s degree in engineering, plus 5+ years of industrial construction experience.
Proven track record in commissioning planning and construction coordination, with a demonstrated ability to take initiative and drive projects forward.
Demonstrated expertise in developing and implementing construction work packages.
Self-motivated mindset with a strong drive to tackle complex challenges and deliver results.
