AR Production Technician 2 - Weekend Shift

We are currently seeking a Full-Time Production Technician 2 for our manufacturing Optical Service Center located in Brooklyn Park, MN. Salary:
From $20.53/hour (this rate includes a $2/hour shift differential) based on experience.

Job Summary:

The Optical Lab Tech II is more experienced and performs additional job functions. Optical Lab Technicians are responsible for performing a variety of production tasks for manufacturing prescription eyewear. This position is responsible for the quality and quantity of the work performed and will complete machine operation and hand assembly processes to manufacture prescription eyewear. Responsible for set-up, operation, and basic maintenance and safety of equipment within assigned area for work task/job in surface or finish portions of optical lab production.

Duties:

• Perform all aspects of laboratory production within assigned area.
• Proper, efficient and productive use of Lensometer instrument for purposes of lens product inspection respective of basic lens power requirements.
• Ability to perform equipment maintenance including but not limited to that of wheel & motor/spindle change.
• Ability to interpret “Special Rx’s” and with assistance from supervisor translate Rx requirement into finished product commensurate with production area.
• Assists supervisor in maintaining and managing shop supply inventories.
• Ability to troubleshoot production problems leading to unacceptable spoilage, production slowdowns, and sub-par product quality/service and advise supervisor of same and offer possible solutions.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

LEVEL OF EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE OR SKILL SET:

• Position requires high school diploma, GED, or work experience commensurate with position requirements.
• At least 3 years of laboratory/manufacturing work experience commensurate with position requirements.
• Need the ability to multi-task, be detail-oriented, operate in a fast-paced environment, to communicate effectively, and work successfully with team members.
• This position may have exposure to one or more hazardous substances/chemicals which requires safety training and safety wear, such as safety glasses and gloves.
• Demonstration of basic high school level math skills required.
• Must be age 18 or older.
• Must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job includes close vision and color vision.
