The High Voltage Busbar forms the connection between the car and charger on the Model S, X, 3 and Y and is a vital component to the car. This is an exciting opportunity to work on one of Tesla‘s highest output lines that has a critical role in every vehicle produced la is a demanding and fast-paced environment where you will work on a critical subsystem in world-changing products.
The Sustaining Process Engineer will also work with cross-functional teams to aggressively ramp newly launched products to full-scale production and beyond. The Sustaining Process Engineer‘s primary responsibilities are:
Eliminate waste in the manufacturing system, identify trends and signals in process data, create game plans and maintenance work orders in response to these trends, and drive long-term line improvements to yield cycle time, and process capability.
Responsibilities
Develop expertise in the Busbar manufacturing process. Understand process performance through both data and time spent on the production line and use that knowledge to improve both production process and part quality
Review critical process metrics daily for statistical shifts from nominal and develop game plans to address
Identify and/or develop critical process monitors and metrics for battery module and pack manufacturing. Use to diagnose issues found during the manufacturing process, efficiently identify root cause, react (but also plan proactively)
Guide and develop roadmaps for aggressive improvement to OEE metrics:
Yield, Cycle Time, Availability, and Cost. Report metrics to upper management
Manage workload with a positive attitude as a team player in a collaborative work environment
Drive continuous improvement and support activities for engineering and manufacturing including 5S and Lean manufacturing activities, material handling improvements, production line configuration, and safety procedures
Requirements
Degree in Engineering, Mathematics, Physical Science, or equivalent experience
Ability to derive data-supported root causes and propose strong countermeasures. Tableau, R-studio, Minitab, and/or JMP experience preferred. Must be able to pull data using efficient SQL queries
Exceptional problem-solving skills and an aptitude for learning systems quickly, capacity for managing simultaneous activities and challenges
Demonstrated experience in ramping and/or sustaining a high volume, automated and semi-automated manufacturing line. In addition - has creative capacity for developing new ways to do things better, cheaper, faster in alignment with the aggressive Tesla approach to ramping production lines
Passion for making fantastic new products with industry-leading quality
Experience with process control techniques such as Statistical Process control (SPC), process capability and subsequent data analysis
Desired manufacturing skillsets: experience with tube bending process, Atlas-Copco fastener rundown traces and quality detection methods, tool and die knowledge

Expected Compensation $76,000 - $150,000/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits
Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered.
