Surface Mount Technology Manufacturing Technician

Tesla Manufacturing Engineering has the important role of designing ‘The Machine that builds the Machine‘. We work with the cross-functional teams (Design, Quality, Production, Sustaining, and Supply Chain) throughout the entire lifecycle of a product (from initial design through prototype development and into full production) to develop high quality and efficient manufacturing equipment and processes that will produce the power electronics that drive our cars and energy products.

The role of the SMT Manufacturing Technician is to support the PCBA team in producing world-class power electronics boards. Responsibilities
Program, debug, maintain and troubleshoot SMT pick and placement equipment
Generate new programs for SMT screen printers and support changeovers
Program solder paste inspection (SPI) machines
Generate automated optical inspection (AOI) programs and debug existing libraries to improve component inspection accuracy and reduce false fails
Maintain a good working knowledge of IPC-A-610 and JEDEC J-STD-001 workmanship standards
Support area leads, operators, and manufacturing engineers
Program and support automated x-ray inspection (AXI) equipment
Follow all company safety and ESD program requirements, responsible to report all accidents, near misses, unsafe acts and unsafe conditions
Good understanding of SMD and PTH component values, able to read BOM and drawings Requirements
Experience in a factory organization or contract manufacturer
Familiar with ESD / MSL requirements for components and PCB/PCBAs
Familiar with 5S
Knowledgeable about production quality metrics
Exemplary written communication and technical report writing skills
Ability to work in a team environment
Well organized with meticulous attention to detail
Able to problem solve and work with minimal supervision toward stated goals

Expected Compensation $24.40 - $56.40/hour + cash and stock awards + benefits
