Elementary Program Director

Harbor Montessori School – Gig Harbor, WA Position

2025–2026 Academic Year

Harbor Montessori School (HMS) is actively searching for a vibrant and compassionate Elementary Program Director for the 2025–2026 academic year.

Preference will be given to candidates who hold both Lower and Upper Elementary Montessori credentials; however, candidates with just one of these credentials will also be considered.

Located on a beautiful four-acre campus just two miles from downtown Gig Harbor, HMS features well-equipped classrooms, small class sizes, and a welcoming, joyful faculty and staff.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of five years full-time Montessori classroom experience at the elementary level
  • Deep understanding of Montessori education and child development in the second plane
  • Strong interpersonal, team collaboration, and relational skills
  • Detail-oriented with demonstrated leadership capabilities

Position Type: Full-time, 12-month

General responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Faculty and staff mentoring and oversight
  • Family relations
  • Professional development and curriculum coordination
  • Student support
  • Ensure the elementary program meets AMS and NWAIS accreditation standards

Education / Certification Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree with evidence of ongoing professional development
  • AMS or AMI Montessori Elementary Credential
  • Ten or more hours of documented professional development per year
  • Washington State Teacher Certification (preferred)

Skills and Experience Requirements:

  • At least five years of Montessori classroom experience
  • Demonstrated growth in leadership, mentoring, and/or supervisory roles
  • Deep understanding of the developmental, social, and emotional journey of children ages 6–12
  • Commitment to inclusion and support of diverse learners in a Montessori environment
  • Dedication to building and sustaining a Montessori-aligned community of children, families, and staff
