Position Objectives:
General Statement of
Duties :
Personal or group fitness coach will work with a variety of clients to improve their fitness, physicality and overall health, performing evaluations, modelling workouts, plan, conduct and monitor programs and or classes. Performs related duties as required.
Supervision Received:
Works under the general and technical direction of the Wellness Center Supervisor(s); and/or Assistant Wellness Center Supervisor.
Supervision Exercised:
None.
Duties and Responsibilities:

Duties may vary somewhat from position to position within a class.
- * Monitors participants during fitness classes, training sessions, or programs to ensure safety and ensure they are using correct technique.
- * Plans, conducts and provides a safe fun environment for all participants.
- * Demonstrate & promote knowledge of proper group and/or personal fitness components.
- * Lifting, moving and or arranging fitness equipment.
- * Set up for fitness programs/classes and maintain fitness rooms & storage area.
- * Recording and or creating reports of clients/classes/programs.
- * Analyzing and monitoring clients/classes behavior and abilities to adapt programs as needed.
- Communicate to Supervisor equipment needs or hazards.
- Assists and greets customers upon entering of facility or class.
- Adheres to and enforces all facility/program policies.
- * Earns all necessary continuing education credits.
- * Attends required training and meetings.
- Performs other duties as assigned or required.
- * Considerable knowledge of various exercise equipment & methods including but not limited to strength training and cardiovascular exercise in a variety of personal and group fitness sessions.
- * General knowledge of department fitness policies and procedures.
- * Ability to follow verbal and written directions.
- * Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form.
- * General knowledge of attendance forms and sound systems.
- * Considerable ability to interact with the general public in a positive manner and to promote programming.
- * Working ability to provide a set schedule of 2 classes per week.
- * Considerable technical competency, point-of-sale, scheduling, video conference calling, screen shares, launching videos, and using hyperlinks.
- Ability to work independently and also as a member of a crew in an efficient, safe and cooperative manner.
- Prolonged periods of intense physical exertion including running, lifting and stretching.
- Ability to lift 75 pounds or more when required.

Minimum Qualifications:
- * Must have and maintain Personal or Group Fitness Instructor certification, or work progressively towards certification within 6 months of hire by ACE, ACSM, AFAA or equivalent.
- * Must have and maintain American Red Cross First Aid and CPR certification, or work progressively towards certification within 3 months of hire.
- Completion of a two or four year degree in an accredited college in health, exercise, or human performance or current certification in a nationally accredited fitness program.
- Training and experience in personal or group fitness training.
- Training and experience in American Red Cross First Aid and CPR.
- Ability to provide classes on mornings, nights and weekends.
