JOB SUMMARY
Directs and coordinates crews involved in the construction, maintenance, and repair of railroad track.
- Assists in planning and coordinating track maintenance and improvement activity, including routine maintenance and program track work while maximizing track availability/condition and train operations.
- Assists in determining which track improvements and/or maintenance are to be done by company forces or outside vendors.
- Monitors track, bridge and Right of Way (ROW) inspections to ensure quality inspections and safe train operations.
- Assists in coordinating the maintenance of all ROW which will include mowing, weed control, tree & brush trimming, and snow removal.
- Assists in maintaining all at-grade crossings.
- Monitors and assists in enforcing FRA compliance along with company policies, rules and standards.
- Must have knowledge of track structure, its components and how they interrelate.
- Must have knowledge of methods, techniques, and tools in track repair and maintenance.
- Limited authority to oversee a group of non-exempt employees in the Railroad. Assigns tasks, directs activities and monitors performance of all employees. Carries out responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
To be successful in this position, you will need the following:
- 2-4 years railroad experience; or
- Equivalent combination of experience and/or education.
- Class A CDL.
Typical hours during Production are M-F 5am-4pm. Maybe one Saturday per month. Typical hours during Maintenance are M-F 7am-3pm.
