Position Summary/Job Duties:
Job Purpose:
The primary function of the Facility Services Student Assistant is to provide outstanding customer service to the people of the Wisconsin School of Business. This is accomplished by performing the best quality of work and being as responsive and helpful as possible to the students, faculty, and staff of Grainger Hall.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Unlocking all classroom doors if needed.
- Documenting missing or broken chairs.
- Aligning chairs and tables.
- Resetting the café sitting area.
- Documenting any missing items, pieces of furniture, and building damage.
- Rearranging any misplaced items or pieces of furniture.
- Attend to any work orders that are submitted online by faculty and staff. Common tasks include:
- Handling of confidential shredding and proper storage/disposal of these items.
- Hanging pictures/prints/whiteboards.
- Swapping furniture.
- Installing furniture attachments (I.e. varidesk, standing desk, computer arms, etc.).
- Some small touch up cleaning.
- Assist with large scale office rearrangements. These projects usually include:
- Removing or redistributing large pieces of furniture (I.e. desks, tables etc.).
- Moving personal items.
- Hanging prints/pictures for new occupants.
- Cleaning inside the office/suite.
- Furniture attachment installation (I.e. varidesk, standing desk, computer arms, etc.).
- Interact with students, faculty, and staff to answer any questions or concerns they have.
Duties :
- Sort and deliver incoming mail and packages for the building on a daily basis.
- Manage the buildup of furniture items in storage spaces and reorganize when necessary.
- Assist with building evacuation in the case of an emergency. This includes:
- Communicating with first responders when necessary.
- Directing foot traffic out of the building and into safe locations.
- Communicating with faculty floor captains to coordinate evacuations.
Business Hours:
Monday-Friday: 7:00am-4:30pm
Physical Demands:
Must be able to move items up to 100lbs.
Must be a university system student—Includes M.A.T.C.
