This position is part of the administrative team within Research Animal Resources and Compliance (RARC) that provides support for the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committees (IACUC) at UW-Madison. This position reports to the IACUC Administrator. The incumbent serves as a subject matter expert and provides support and coordination between the 4 IACUCs and RARC veterinary staff, researchers, animal facility staff, and campus compliance staff.
The incumbent facilitates and documents IACUC meetings, prepares meeting agendas, minutes and reports, serves on various ad hoc committees and working groups, manages and performs a portion of semi-annual animal facility inspections, manages a portion of protocols in the online protocol system, assists with the development of software enhancements, and participates in training IACUC members.
- 40% Collects, compiles, and organizes reports for a defined compliance program and communicates data to internal and external stakeholders when appropriate
- 30% Issues compliance notifications and provides education and resources to inquiring entities
- 30% Assists with the creation and the maintenance of manuals, communication materials, and other compliance materials in accordance with established laws and regulations

Required:
-- Proficiency/Familiarity with veterinary and research terminology.
-- Proficiency in Communication:
The successful candidate must demonstrate the ability to communicate clearly and accurately in both written and oral conversations. This role will communicate daily with study teams, committee members and other stakeholders in the animal program and clear communication is critical.
-- Proficiency in Electronic Systems:
The successful candidate must demonstrate effective use of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook (including calendaring systems). These tools are essential for daily tasks, including document creation, data analysis and communication management.
-- Attention to Detail:
The successful candidate will demonstrate a high level of organization, attention to detail, initiative, and follow-though. The role will work as part of a team and also be independently accountable for managing some aspects of the program. Attention to detail is essential for success.
-- Strong Interpersonal skills:
The successful candidate will demonstrate strong interpersonal, administrative, professional, and analytical skills. This role involves independent problem solving requiring the ability to listen and understand questions that are being asked by stakeholders (interpersonal and professional skills) as well as the ability to figure out how to find the answer to the question being asked (administrative and analytical skills).
Preferred:
-- Animal Regulatory Compliance
Experience:
At least two years of experience in research animal regulatory compliance and electronic protocol software systems. Experience working with IACUCs in an academic setting is preferred; related experience in regulatory research compliance will be considered.
-- Experience using shared email boxes and ARROW (UW electronic protocol software)
-- Applicants with experience performing animal research and writing animal use protocols are encouraged to apply; training in research regulation and oversight will be provided.
Full Time: 100%
This position will require some work to be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location. Some work may be performed remotely, at an offsite, non-campus work location.

Salary:Minimum $70,000 ANNUAL (12 months)
