Responsibilities:
Veterinary Technician I (AN002)
Veterinary Technician II (AN003)
Veterinary Technician III (AN004)
Tasks:
Prepares, completes, monitors, and documents technical animal care procedures and work unit activities, assessments, and medication administration according to established care plans and medical necessity
Develops recordkeeping processes, maintains organization of and updates records related to medical procedures and billing
Tracks supply inventory levels and places replenishment orders
Serves as a point of contact for animal owners and stakeholders providing information and answering questions
Assists in the facilitation of trainings of Veterinary Technician Assistants and helps student employees as needed
Monitors animal health status and records, provides nursing care, notifies Veterinarian when status changes, and records in the medical record
Places and maintains intravascular and urinary catheters. Places and maintains NG/NE tubes.
Assures patient comfort and cleanliness.
Assures quality patient care in the ICW.
Assist CVTs in ER/CCU
Bring a positive, helpful attitude to the unit and the hospital
Be a team player, and work together with colleagues to best meet patient needs
Follow all hospital and UW campus policies and procedures
Gain knowledge on unit equipment and use. Assist with unit equipment operation and regular maintenance. Advise supervisor of equipment issues or repair needs, as needed.
Participate in rotating on-call shifts as required by the hospital
Participate and assist in the training and mentoring of less experienced staff and students

Required
H.S. Diploma
Preferred
Associate's Degree
Qualifications:
Requires the ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs. independently and physical and manual dexterity to perform specialized technical tasks.
This position is posted at Vet Tech levels 1, 2 and 3. Level is determined by qualifications based on type of prior veterinary tech experience.
To qualify for Level 1:
Entry level, new CVT grad or some CVT working experience with no specialization.
To qualify for Level 2:
Generally over 2 years of veterinary tech experience, may substitute years of experience for specialization.
To qualify for Level 3:
Veterinary Tech Specialist (VTS), or highly qualified and specialized in a specific area, may have prior experience from another university hospital.
License/Certification:
Required
CVT - Certified Veterinary Technician
Work Schedule:
Monday-Friday, 9:00am-5:30pm.
Position may include holiday and weekend shifts. Potential for additional on-call hours as required by the hospital.
Work Type:
Full or Part Time: 60% - 100%
It is anticipated this position requires work be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location.

Salary:
Minimum $21.00 HOURLY
Depending on Qualifications
Sign-on Bonus of 5% of base pay (based on FTE) to be paid over the first year of employment!
In addition to your competitive base compensation:
- earn an extra $6.00/hour for weeknight shifts
- $4.80/hour for weekend day shifts
- $7.80/hour for weekend night shifts
UWVC also offers a reimbursement for relocation fees for those who qualify!
