Job Summary:

Join the University Housing Team as a seasonal Painter from May through August. We are seeking energetic and skilled candidates to patch, repair, prepare, and paint various surfaces in our residential and dining facilities. Work with a team of professionals focused on providing outstanding customer service. All tools for this position will be supplied.

Responsibilities:

Patches, repairs, prepares, and paints various surfaces using appropriate tools and equipment to ensure adequate, safe, and operable institutional facilities. Designs, fabricates, and installs signage.

  • 5% Interprets blueprints and drawings to assess and determine specifications and calculate the materials and equipment required. Discusses project plan with customer/client
  • 10% Gathers materials, prepares work area, and maintains equipment and supplies needed for jobs
  • 65% Completes skilled painting work, color matching, and mixing according to established trade standards and applicable building and safety codes
  • 5% Reviews finished projects with client/customer. Maintains records and reports of work status and completion according to established deadlines and expectations
  • 5% Prepares and levels dry wall
  • 10% Cleans work area upon completion of projects according to established guidelines and expectations
Tasks:
  • Demonstrates and role models exceptional customer service; communicates with residents and staff to address work requests.
  • Creates, promotes, and participates in a collaborative team environment.
  • Maintains and implements prescribed cleaning standards.
  • Maintains painted surfaces in assigned residential, office, and dining spaces.
  • Provides support and assists as needed in the implementation of plans and procedures in the event of an emergency.
  • Assists with move in/out operations.
  • Completes work in occupied or vacant residence hall and dining spaces.
Education:

Preferred: H.S. Diploma and the completion of a registered apprenticeship program approved by the Department of Workforce Development as a Painter.

Qualifications:

A minimum of 2 years relevant painting experience is preferred.

License/Certification:

Preferred:
Lead Safe Renovator Certification, OSHA 10 Certification, Journeyman Level Painter Certification or equivalent experience/apprenticeship.

Work Schedule:

Flexible start time: primary schedule is Monday - Friday with hours between 7:00am and 4:30pm. Schedule will be determined upon hire. Schedule alterations as operations and position expectations demand.

Work Type:

It is anticipated this position requires work be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location.

Appointment Type, Duration:

Terminal appointment. This position has the possibility to be extended based on need and/or funding.

Salary:

Minimum $23.25 HOURLY Depending on Qualifications
