Requirements

SUMMARY:
Under the direction of the Maintenance Supervisor, the Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing duties to repair and maintain machinery, equipment, buildings, and facilities, requiring a broad knowledge of maintenance skills including mechanical repair, plumbing, welding, carpentry, fabrication, and a basic knowledge of electrical repair.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Install, repair, rebuild, and maintain machinery and mechanical equipment used in production and related services.

Listen for unusual sounds from machines or equipment to detect malfunction and discuss machine operation variations with the manager or other resources to diagnose problems or repair the machine.

Make repairs or adjustments to keep equipment in production.

Rebuild machines and attachments to involve dismantling, inspection, machining, or replacement of purchased parts.

Perform various activities relative to the installation and relocation of existing machines and equipment to involve dismantling, erection, leveling, fitting, and aligning operations.

Perform maintenance on the buildings, facilities, and the grounds.

Assist in determining the nature and scope of forthcoming projects and the requirements for completion.

Maintain required maintenance logs and files.

Able to lift 50 pounds frequently and occasionally lift up to 100 pounds.

Perform routine housekeeping activities in the department and ensure adherence to established safety procedures and requirements.

Perform preventative maintenance on all machinery.

Qualifications/Requirements

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Requires a broad knowledge of mechanical repair and maintenance. Minimum one year experience as a Maintenance Technician.
