Job Title:

Due Process Specialist

Reports To:

Executive Director, Special Education Director
Supports:
Special Education Coordinator & Case Managers
Status:
Full-Time, Exempt

START DATE: 2025/26 school year

Responsibilities
  • Collaborates with the Special Education team on the following:
  • File quarterly progress reports/review progress reports for accuracy
  • Manage the electronic building special education calendar
  • Develop and maintain the SpEd master caseload spreadsheet
  • Manage SpEd Forms caseloads, and case sharing
  • Create intake student(s) SpEd Forms
  • Assist the Special Education Coordinator with making evaluation responsibilities Google Document/SpEd Forms template
  • Utilize the spreadsheet to regularly inform IEP managers of current status of caseload (timelines)
  • Maintain master due process tracking document and finalize all completed documents
  • Update and maintain student information in SpEd Forms (e.g., address changes, records requests)
  • Maintain special education files
  • Assist with monitoring file contents for appropriate content
  • Ensure inclusion of all due process documents
  • Monitor checkout procedure; maintain log of access
  • Prepare files for transition/matriculation to another program or building within the district
  • Help with various reports: etc. Highly Qualified Staff percentages, MARSS
  • Document information in the contact log
  • Collaborate with district support staff (due process facilitator, coordinator, assistant director) to ensure due process is complete
  • Collaborate with the Data and Policy Coordinator with PCA Tracking timelines/90 Day Observations
  • Organization of tuition billing set up and paperwork
  • Maintaining evaluation protocols and ordering
  • Help with Paraprofessional Interview process
  • Student support/Tier 1 support when needed
  • Additional Related Support
  • Assist with preparation and distribution of school staff, student/parent, community communication/materials as needed or required
  • Maintain positive, professional relationships and use appropriate verbal, non-verbal and written communication with all individuals
  • Type, proofread copy, distribute, and file correspondence as needed or requested
  • Perform data collection/generate reports; i.e., pulling reports/data on students and/or staff as needed
  • Perform any other duties/assignments as assigned/requested
  • Qualifications

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Excellent oral, written, spoken communication skills with ability to interact well with staff, students, parents
  • Must be detail oriented, multi-task oriented and flexible
  • Must have a professional demeanor and appearance with a positive attitude and a sense of humor
  • Self-motivated, proactive, accountable and resourceful in the completion of work assignments
  • Ability to plan and organize work successfully with limited supervision
  • Expertise with the following computer applications:
    Mac equipment, classroom applications and software, Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Ability to sit and work at a computer for extended periods of time
  • Ability to maintain status of “not disqualified” upon completion of criminal background
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds on occasion
