The Outside Processing
- Area Supervisor ensures throughput targets are achieved in a safe, timely, quality, cost efficient and productive manner. Ensures employees are accurately trained, assigned specific duties, coached, disciplined, and rewarded; and always optimizes equipment availability, cycle times, and overall continual improvement. This experienced manager will be responsible for providing supervision/direction. This individual will have responsibility for one shift, one department. Responsibilities include achievement of high quality, low cost, safety and on-time performance goals and development of advanced methods and techniques to increase productivity.
This is a very fast paced environment.
- Responsible for supervision of shift employees including training, discipline, housekeeping and staffing recommendations.
- Ensure that all department production methods and practices are consistent with internal quality standards, customer requirements.
- Effectively develop and coach supervisors and employees with emphasis on building a winning team.
- Communicate all issues to workforce working toward required goals.
- Must be able to multi-task and drive department in meeting goals.
- Effectively collaborate with manufacturing, quality and metallurgical engineers to achieve scrap, cost and safety requirements.
- Provide leadership and maintain a positive work atmosphere that results in excellent relationships with customers, clients, co-workers and supervisors.
- Manage, direct and coordinate all activities related to the area to maximize productivity and minimize cost while achieving safety, quality and throughput targets.
- Ensure all production data is gathered and reported correctly on a daily basis.
- Stay abreast of technological advancements and process improvements that may impact production.
- Support Machine Shop as needed to carry out supervisory responsibilities including interviewing, hiring & training employees; planning, assigning & directing work; evaluating and appraising individual performance; rewarding & disciplining employees; addressing complaints & resolving problems.
- Review variable costs, productivity, earned standard hours and throughput daily and implement effective corrective actions when targets are not achieved.
- Support and improve upon quality initiatives designed to meet plant goals. Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Education (or substitute experience) required:
Bachelors of Science in Engineering or Business; may be substituted by experience.
Minimum Experience RequiredPreferred candidate will have 3 years supervisory experience.
Skills Required- Previous supervisory experience in manufacturing environment showing progressive advancement with increasing levels of responsibility.
- Must demonstrate knowledge of sound business practices. Solid, overall business acumen and a strong mindset for continuous improvement.
- Attention to detail and an attitude of 100% compliance with all company and regulatory requirements.
- Work requires verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to motivate teams to produce quality materials within tight time frames and simultaneously manage several projects.
- High energy level and ability to work flexible hours.
