Position: IT Business Systems Analyst (Fixed-Term Benefitted) #25-3267

Program Assistant-Basketball Program

Main duties will be to help officiate games and assist with coaching activities associated with the Youth in A.C.T.I.O.N. Outdoor summer basketball program at Hargraves center.

Hours are Friday nights from 7pm - 11pm.

Essential Functions
  • Teaches and coaches youth in fundamentals of basketball.
  • Monitors facility: open and/or close facility, supervise lobby, gym and multi-purpose room, monitor general organization and cleanliness of the Center; replenish supplies as needed.
  • Customer Service: assists patrons who walk in, answers phone, checks out equipment to patrons.
  • Operates computer-based daily admission/pass registration/rental program software; collects admission and pass fees; runs reports and prepares deposits of monies received during shift.
  • Rentals: supervise rentals, including after hour rentals.
  • Programs: assist with programs as needed; setup and take down tables, chairs and other equipment.
  • Carries out job duties in a safe manner in accordance with all Town, department and regulatory policies; follows safety procedures. Identifies unsafe situations and work hazards, corrects them if possible, and reports them to their supervisor.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • KNOWLEDGE

    SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
  • Knowledgeable about NC High School basketball rules.
  • Knowledge of town and department policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of department rules and regulations.
  • Knowledge of relevant town ordinances.
  • Knowledge of first-aid and CPR/AED.
  • Skill in oral communication.
  • Skill in performing basic mathematical calculations.
  • Skill in observing large groups of people in order to enforce rules.
  • Skill in operating calculator, computer, and telephone.
  • Minimum Qualifications
  • Must be 18 years of age at time of employment.
  • Must be able to teach fundamentals of basketball and other activities.
  • Must be able to lift and set up benches and tables outside.
  • Ability to read, write and perform mathematical calculations at a level commonly associated with the completion of high school or equivalent.
  • Experience with cash handling and collecting fees.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in computer operation and experience with software such as Microsoft Office.
  • Experience related to customer service and facility monitoring.
  • Certification in First Aid required within first three months of employment.
  • Certification in CPR within the first six months of employment.
  • Supplemental Information

    Experience with officiating and coaching preferred.
