The Aviation Ground Support Equipment (AGSE) Mechanic is a skilled professional responsible for the maintenance, repair, and operational readiness of ground support equipment critical to aviation operations. In addition to core responsibilities, this position incorporates specialized tasks such as troubleshooting, inspecting, and performing unit-level maintenance on specific AGSE, including the Aviation Ground Power Unit (AGPU), Generic Aircraft Nitrogen Generator (GANG), and Standard Aircraft Towing System (SATS).
This position plays a key role in ensuring the reliability and functionality of equipment essential for aircraft ground handling, maintenance, and overall aviation support. Moreover, this position is entrusted with sampling, processing, and evaluating AOAP samples submitted for AGSE equipment.
- Conduct routine maintenance and repair tasks on a variety of ground support equipment, including but not limited to generators, tow tractors, hydraulic test stands, and power carts.
- Troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues in a timely manner.
- Implement scheduled preventive maintenance programs to maximize the lifespan and reliability of ground support equipment.
- Perform inspections and identify potential issues before they escalate.
- Conduct testing and calibration of ground support equipment to ensure accurate performance.
- Verify that equipment meets safety and regulatory standards.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and equipment status.
- Generate reports and documentation for compliance and reporting purposes.
- Coordinate with aviation maintenance teams to ensure seamless integration of ground support equipment with aircraft maintenance operations.
- Communicate effectively with team members and other stakeholders.
- Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical education or certification in aviation mechanics is preferred.
- Proven experience as an Aviation Ground Support Equipment Mechanic or similar role.
- Familiarity with a range of ground support equipment used in aviation operations.
- In-depth knowledge of AGSE, including AGPU, GANG, SATS, and Diesel Engine Equipment.
- Previous experience in a leadership or supervisory role within a military maintenance unit.
- Strong knowledge of military logistics procedures and regulations.
