Under the direction of the Senior Environmental Scientist (Supervisor), in the California Geologic Energy Management Division (CalGEM) the Associate Governmental Program Analyst (AGPA) will be part of an interdisciplinary team responsible for adhering to the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA). The AGPA may act as a lead or coordinate the efforts of consulting with tribal governments, landowners, environmental consultants and contractors, and government agencies as a representative of CalGEM in compliance with Assembly Bill AB 52 Tribal Cultural Resources and other DOC Tribal mandates related to CEQA.
The AGPA will assist the CEQA Program (Program) by conducting and/or reviewing analytical studies and surveys; formulate procedures, policies, and program alternatives; make recommendations on a broad spectrum of administrative and program-related problems; review and analyze proposed legislation and advise management on the impact or potential impact. In addition, the AGPA may represent the state, or a given department as assigned and perform other related duties.
The incumbent must be able to communicate in a professional manner with all levels of staff and members of California’s diverse community.

Possession of Minimum Qualifications will be verified prior to interview and/or appointment. Working ConditionsThis position is located in Sacramento and is eligible for a hybrid telework schedule. Employees must reside in California and be able to satisfactorily perform their essential work functions independently and remotely.
Candidates who reside outside of the State of California may be admitted to the job interview but must show proof of residence in California prior to being eligible for appointment.
