Job Title: Pet Care Technician / Front Desk Associate
Reports To: General Manager, Assistant Managers, Pet Care Managers, Front Desk Managers
Partners: Location Management, Grooming & Training Teams

Summary:

The Pet Care Technician / Front Desk Associate ensures pets' and clients' health, safety, and satisfaction at Paw Commons Pet Resort. This dual-role position combines animal care expertise with front desk operations, including client communication, facility maintenance, and administrative support. The role collaborates across departments to uphold service excellence, operational efficiency, and adherence to safety protocols.

Qualifications:

Experience:
  • Prior experience in animal care, customer service, or hospitality preferred.
  • Familiarity with pet health monitoring, feeding schedules, and basic medical administration is a plus.
Skills & Abilities:
  • Strong customer service orientation and ability to resolve client concerns professionally.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft platforms (Outlook, Excel, Teams) and Gingr software (training provided).
  • Organizational skills for multitasking between pet care duties, reservations, and record-keeping.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, stand/walk for extended periods, and work in noisy or humid conditions.
  • Fluency in English (bilingual skills encouraged).
Preferred

Certifications:
  • Certifications such as Fear Free, Pet First Aid/CPR, or similar credentials are a plus.
Education:
  • High school diploma or GED recommended.
Physical Requirements:

Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions. This role involves frequent walking, standing, lifting (up to 50 lbs), and exposure to wet/hot conditions or loud noises. Occasional bending, crouching, and verbal communication are required.

Key Responsibilities:

Pet Care & Facility Operations:
  • Administer feedings and medications and monitor water intake per veterinary guidelines.
  • Observe and report changes in animal health or behavior to management promptly.
  • Maintain cleanliness and hygiene in daycare, lobby, and animal enclosures.
Client Service & Communication:
  • Manage check-ins/check-outs.
  • Provide clients with updates on pet health, behavior, or incidents using positive language and the “Bad Words Better Replacements” approach.
  • Handle reservations and phone inquiries and resolve concerns with professionalism.
Administrative Support:
  • Maintain accurate records in Gingr for pet health, client interactions, and service details.
  • Reconcile cash drawers, manage tips, and document transactions at shift end.
  • Monitor inventory (food, cleaning supplies, medications) and report shortages.
Training & Team Development:
  • Assist in onboarding new staff on pet care protocols, safety procedures, and customer service standards.
  • Promote teamwork by mentoring peers and sharing best practices.
