This position assists the full-time Public Works staff in general grounds and building care activities involving the performance of manual labor, which often involves physically demanding work. Must be 17+ yrs old and possess a valid, non-probationary WI driver's license.

Essential Job Functions

• Assist in maintenance of city streets and stormwater pond and drainage areas.
• Maintain City streets including crack filling, spray patching and filling potholes.
• Traffic sign installation and traffic control painting.
• Mowing, weed whipping and lawn care in parks, around City buildings and on City properties.
• Weed control and herbicide applications for weed and control of invasive vegetation.
• Keep storm retention ponds and waterways clean of trash, weeds and debris. Clean storm water inlets.

Requirements of Work

• Ability to understand and carry out verbal and written instructions usually acquired through a high school diploma or GED.
• Requires a valid, non-probationary Wisconsin Driver's License.
• Must be at least 19 years of age, if operating power equipment
• Knowledge of materials, methods, techniques and equipment used in landscaping/ grounds maintenance is preferred.
• Knowledge of operation, safety and efficient use of maintenance of tools, equipment and vehicles is preferred.
