Join our team as a Civil Engineer specialising in pavements and geotechnical engineering. Reporting to our Pavements & Geotechnical Department Head, you will be required to carry out pavement and geotechnical investigations along with designing of pavement structures and drainage systems. The role requires proficiency in advanced software including CIRCLY, HiPave, APSDS and AutoCAD as well as coding expertise to support efficient field data collection and engineering calculations.
Responsibilities
- Conduct visual condition assessments of pavements in accordance with National and State guidelines and procedures.
- Perform soil testing, subsurface analysis, and site classifications adhering to AS1726 and AS2870.
- Carry out pavement designs in accordance with State and National empirical and mechanistic design procedures.
- Utilise design software CIRCLY, HiPave and APSDS for mechanistic designs.
- Advanced ability to customise CIRCLY, HiPave, or APSDS parameters to meet unique project needs.
- Write technical pavement and geotechnical reports.
- Carry out drafting of pavement details and plans using AutoCAD.
- Assist with urban drainage assessments and designs following latest ARR guidelines.
- Develop and automate calculations using Python, VB, and Java for field data collection and program efficiency.
- Ensure full compliance with ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001 standards in all project phases, maintaining a focus on quality, safety, and environmental sustainability.
- Work closely with project teams to integrate designs across disciplines, ensuring smooth coordination and timely project delivery.
- Actively participate and contribute to the continuous improvement of the Civil Engineering profession, proposing and implementing innovative solutions.
Required Skills and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in pavements and geotechnical engineering.
- Proficiency in CIRCLY, HiPave, APSDS, and programming languages (Python, VB, Java).
- Basics of AutoCAD.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to validate engineering calculations.
- Knowledge of Australian and international pavement design standards.
- White Card & Occupational First Aid.
- Western Australia Class C drivers license.
- In-depth knowledge of mechanistic-empirical pavement design principles.
- Experience with green pavement technologies, such as recycled asphalt or sustainable materials.
- Experience conducting onsite subsurface investigations.
- Knowledge in geotechnical principles and soil mechanics.
To be considered for this position you must be an Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident.
Only suitable applicants residing in Western Australia, preferably Perth will be considered for this role.
