DLTC English & Foreign Language School:
The DLTC located 25 minutes south of Dublin, in Dun Laoghaire, Ireland, is a Language School offering private and group Italian Classes from beginners to Intermediate. At DLTC we have small class sizes (10 students per class), native teachers and great prices. Our courses place great emphasis on the spoken Italian language.
Learn Italian in a comfortable, well-equipped school, at an easy-to-reach location beside Dun Laoghaire DART station (25 minutes south of Dublin city centre by train).
Evening Italian Courses Overview
- These are either 10 or 20 week evening courses (20 or 40 hours) that take place one night per week 7.15-9.15pm. .
- Classes focus mostly on 'spoken Italian' though grammar etc. is covered.
- Class sizes are small with on average 7 to 10 students per class so that each student receives good attention from the teacher and maximum opportunity to practise speaking the language.
- The teachers are all qualified, native speakers and experienced.
- If you are unsure of your level, please contact us and we can arrange for a free level assessment a teacher. These assessments are oral and may be done over the phone if preferred.
- As places are limited to a maximum of 11 students on these courses, bookings should be made well in advance and bookings can only be confirmed when the fee is paid. Bookings and payments should not be made on the day a course is due to begin as places cannot be guaranteed.
- Courses are subject to demand and availabilty.

Below are listed the aims and major speaking topics of each level of our evening Italian courses:
Italian 1 - Beginners
Speech topics:
* Greetings
* Asking and saying your name and surname
* Adjectives, plural, prepositions
* Asking and telling about your profession, what you do and where you work
* Numbers
* Asking and saying your nationality, address, e-mail address and telephone number
* Talking about your family
* Describing people physically and personality
* Asking for things in a shop and prices
* Asking for directions
* Ordering food and drinks in a bar and restaurant
* Describing your house
* Cultural notes about Italy
* Grammar: verbs to be, to have and present tense of the most useful verbs, articles, plural, adjectives, reflex ive verbs, there is/there are.
Italian 2 - Elementary
Speech topics:
* Talking about your daily routine using the present tense
* Saying how often you do things using frequent adverbs
* Asking and giving information about your health
* Offering, accepting and refusing things
* Booking hotels, restaurants
* Inviting somebody out
* Asking and giving information about places
* Asking specific information about shops, restaurants, bars
* Grammar: present tense of irregular verbs, past tense of the most useful verbs
* Cultural notes about Italy
Italian 3 - Pre-Intermediate
Aim: At the end of the course you will be able to talk about what you have done, what you can do, events in the past, plans for the future, leisure activities and medical situations.
Speech topics:
* Shopping for clothes and shoes – size, color, ask for discount, material
* Saying what you have done
* Saying what you can do – hobbies, sports, language
* Events in the past
* Talking about films and TV
* Buying tickets for theatre/cinema
* Explaining health problems – going to the doctor/ pharmacy
* Parts of the body
* Saying what you will do …. Future tense
* Talk about your plans in the future
Italian Level 4 - Pre-Intermediate 2
Aim: At the end of the course you will be able to talk about what you have done, what you can do, events in the past, plans for the future, leisure activities and medical situations.
Italian 5 - Intermediate
Aim: This is a conversational course aimed at improving overall speaking ability - grammar points are also reviewed.
