Outstanding. I've had several portuguese teachers over the years, but Sheila stands out as the best. She mixes intense coursework with humour, insights, politics and great perspectives on Brasilian history and culture. Whether you are a starter, or an advanced learner, she will take you through the basics and lead you into spoken portuguese quickly, and then focus on some of the more advanced elements so that you can at least recognize elements in the language, if not fully proficient to speak it. I can't recommend her highly enough.

i only can recommend basica lingua,which is situated in the nice beach town of barra in salvador. Sheila Waksman is the best teacher i have ever had. She is so professional, she is excelent in explaining, is patient and the classes are so lively, that learning is a lot of fun. she brings a lot of examples so it makes it easier to learn. she helped me during my stay in salvador with everything, she organized a home stay for me, which was good, so i could improve my portuguese with my "new" family, she also gave a lot of information about brasil, salvador, culture and habits. i learnt all about the different religions, brasilian music genres, brasilian costums and traditions. it would have been so difficult without having this introduction and help in this foreign country. dear sheila, i thank you so much what you did for me while staying in your beautiful country, your are the best teacher ever.

If you want to learn the Portuguese language and also about Brasil and Bahia, the best person to teach you is Sheila Walkman! She not only tought me but made me feel welcome and safe from the first moment when I was so scared to be in a new country!
You can take group lessons or one-to one, she adapts to your needs and preferences.
Honestly, I took lessons for 4 weeks and enjoyed every single moment. I have achieved a good level of Portuguese and learned so much about the culture that I never believed it possible. She has got so much experience on teaching and so much knowledge about her country ...
Sheila arranged my accommodation too, which turned up to be an excelent experience with a local family and so easy.
