Yunnan University of Nationalities is a leading university specialized in the education of ethnic minorities. In collaboration with the Keats Chinese Center, it enables international students to undertake an intensive study of Mandarin, while exploring issues of ethnic minorities, their life, cultures, and even their challenges in modern knowledge.

Semester / Year Abroad Program:
Earn university credits & study Mandarin Chinese abroad. Yunnan University of Nationalities Keats Chinese Center (YUNKCC) provides intensive Chinese language study abroad programs along with Chinese ethnic minority study courses and Chinese culture seminars.

All the courses have highly academic standards and are accredited by Yunnan Provincial Department. Students study Chinese intensively in the morning for 4 hours, 5 days a week. 

The content of the 1-semester program is equivalent to the content of 1-year Chinese Language study in a college.

There will be no more than 10 students in each class. You will enroll in the intensive Chinese courses (15 credits) and Chinese culture electives (3 credits). Students can enroll for a semester or for a full academic year.

Intensive Chinese Courses:
• Intensive Beginning Chinese (Level 1 or 2)
• Intensive Intermediate Chinese (Level 1 or 2)
• Intensive Advanced Chinese (Level 1 or 2)

Elective Courses:
• History and Economy of Chinese Ethnic Minorities
• Seminar – Chinese Ethnic Minorities in Your Eyes
• Seminar – Chinese Culture

University / College Credit:
Before signing up for the Study Abroad Chinese programs, you need to have the YUNKCC courses you are planning on taking approved by your academic advisor.

Upon finishing your courses, YUN Keats Chinese Center will send an official transcript to your home school, and will provide you with certificate stating the courses you completed, level, hours, and grade.

The transcripts and the certificates are issued by Yunnan University of Nationalities (YUN). Staff at YUN Keats Chinese Center will help you with the process of credit transfer.
