Located in Cobham, Surrey in southeast England, ACS Cobham International School is a non-sectarian, co-educational, boarding and day school for 2-18 year olds, offering the IB Diploma Programme (IBDP). Boarders begin from ages 12-18. In addition, ACS Cobham offers an American High School Diploma, and also teaches prestigious Advanced Placement (AP) courses. Native Language Enrichment (NLE) is provided in over 12 languages as well as English as an Additional Language (EAL).

The International Baccalaureate ProgrammeThe IB Diploma Programme has proved itself to be the success story in secondary education over the past 30 years. Fully recognized as an entrance qualification to universities in over 110 countries worldwide, this academically rigorous two-year course of studies is completed by students between the ages of 16 and 18.
To earn an IB Diploma, students are required to study six subjects (three at Higher Level, and three at Standard Level):
- A literature course in the student’s native language;
- One additional language;
- Maths;
- Experimental sciences;
- Social sciences;
- Arts or another subject from the sciences, languages or humanities.
In addition, students must complete 150 hours of Creativity, Action, and Service (CAS), write an extended essay (similar to a university research paper), and take a Theory of Knowledge course.
English as an Additional Language (EAL)
In 9th and 10th Grades, EAL students are expected to be at Advanced Level in EAL. They participate in the mainstream High School curriculum, with some individual support available through an EAL Workshop.
The High School does not offer an EAL programme for beginning or intermediate levels. Students in 11th and 12th Grades are required to have strong English skills in order to enrol at ACS Cobham.
The Native Language Enrichment (NLE) Program
Non-native English-speaking students are encouraged to maintain their native language and culture by participating in ACS Cobham’s NLE programme.
The following seven languages are currently being taught by trained native-speaking teachers:
- Danish
- Swedish
- Norwegian
- Finnish
- Dutch
- German
- Hindi
Learning Support Programme
Cobham has a comprehensive Learning Support Programme that runs from Lower School to Middle School and into High School.
