The Embassy’s area of activity covers India as well as Nepal, Bhutan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and the Maldives. A core area of Embassy’s work represents the support of Austrians who are in need of help in one of the countries covered by the Embassy.

In case of lost/stolen Austrian passport, Austrian diplomatic missions can issue a new passport.
Citizens of India need visas to visit Austria. Tourist visa document checklist:
- Application form;
- Passport;
- Two photographs;
- Valid permit to return;
- Travel medical insurance;
- Cover letter;
- Round-trip flight reservations – travel itinerary;
- Proof of accommodation;
- Evidence of occupation/student status/proof of self-employment;
- If employed, salary certificate of the last 3 months of present occupation, employment contract plus company NOC to leave;
- If self-employed, a letter from lawyer/chartered accountant/Confirmation of Chamber of Commerce concerning evidence of established business, certificate of registration of company;
- Proof of sufficient funds;
- Income Tax Acknowledgement;
- Additional documentation, if a minor;
- Copy of the present passport;
- Original(s) of previous passport(s).
If applicant intends to stay longer than 6 months, Residence Permit (“Aufenthaltstitel”) has to be applied for. Visa “C” can be applied for with validity for up to 90 days, Visa "D" between 91 and 180 days. Visa in both categories cannot be extended or renewed in Austria.
The Embassy is closed on public holidays.
