A lost passport must be reported immediately to the Passports Unit Citizen Services Centre, Immigration and Checkpoints Authority or to the nearest Singapore overseas mission abroad. Passports reported lost cannot be used even if recovered subsequently. If you recover the lost passport after a new one has been issued to you, you must surrender the recovered passport to ICA for cancellation within 14 days.
It is recommended that you make a copy of your passport and Identity Card before you leave home, so that you can be identified by these documents in case of theft. You are also advised to keep your Identity Card separately from your passport when travelling.
If your passport is lost/stolen and you need to return to Singapore urgently, you will need to do the following:
- Lodge a police report at a police station in the country where the passport was lost/stolen. Please request for a copy of the report. In some cases where this may not be possible, you should request for an acknowledgment slip or receipt;
- Contact the Embassy's Consular Section on (49)(30) 226 343 - 0 during office hours.
Please note that processing of a passport normally takes 4 to 5 weeks. The passport fee of 46 Euros will need to be paid upon collection. You will be notified when your new passport has arrived.
PLEASE NOTE: YOU MUST THEN COME PERSONALLY TO THE EMBASSY IN BERLIN OR ONE OF OUR CONSULATES IN ORDER TO COLLECT YOUR NEW SINGAPORE INTERNATIONAL PASSPORT.
A passport that is 10 years old cannot be extended. A new one must be applied for. For more details on the extension of a passport less than 10 years old and application for a new passport, please contact the Embassy´s Consular Section.
The MFA eRegister system is a voluntary and free service provided by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) to all Singapore citizens who travel or reside overseas. Regardless of whether you are travelling abroad for study, work or leisure, the eRegister system allows you to record information about your travel itinerary abroad. The information you provide us will allow us to contact you in order to make sure that you are safe and, if need be, assist you should an emergency (eg natural disasters, civil unrest, etc).
Singaporeans do not require a visa to enter Germany. However, your passport should be valid for at least six months from the date of entry. If you intend to stay longer than three months in Germany, you should first obtain a visa from the German Embassy in Singapore before proceeding here. In any case, please contact the German Embassy in Singapore if you require further clarification on visa requirements.
