English Summer Course in U.S. University

The English Language Institute at Notre Dame of Maryland University:
The English Language Institute at Notre Dame of Maryland University provides quality summer English language immersion programs as well as intensive 8-week sessions in spring and fall (autumn) to non-native English speaking adults and college-age students from around the world. Located in a residential neighborhood 15 minutes north of Downtown Baltimore MD (on the beautiful East Coast of the United States), many of our English language students move on to undergraduate studies, graduate studies and careers. In each session, there are 20-25 different countries represented, and this diversity makes English proficiency a necessity and motivates your study & language acquisition.

8-week Academic Summer ESL Program:
The English Language Institute summer program is an excellent course for international students from around the world who wish to improve their English language skills for academic and career advancement.

We offer a wide range of modern facilities for our English students on our university campus. Course modules include:

•  Writing & Grammar:
Students learn the fundamentals of English structure with a focus on practical application in writing at the sentence, paragraph, and essay level.

•  Reading & Discussion:
Students learn skills and strategies that improve accuracy and speed in reading comprehension and build vocabulary. 

•  Listening & Speaking:
Students build confidence in speaking through fluency in speech and accuracy in both listening and speaking. 

•  Vocabulary:
Students build vocabulary with a focus on using words in context both in writing and speaking. 

•  Pronunciation:
Students become more intelligible to other English speakers by focusing on specific sounds and patterns of Standard American English.


With Exciting Trips & Excursions: The English Language Institute also organizes a field trip to a nearby city such as Washington, DC, Philadelphia, Annapolis (Maryland), New York City,  and others. 

Further English Study Option:
• Intensive, 5-week, TOEFL Test Preparation course.

A lot of in-class activities such as watching films, team work activities and out-of-class activities such as field trips are organized with the purpose of teaching you English.
